On January 20th, 2024 we have epic astrological energy in which the Sun and Pluto work together to produce intense amplification of the transition between Pluto now leaving the sign of Capricorn and Pluto moving into the sign of Aquarius.
The Sun represents our consciousness, our identity, ego and self-expression. Pluto represents the planet of deep soul evolution, empowerment, death, re-birth and transformation. Pluto has been in the sign of Capricorn since 2008 deeply exposing the imbalance of power within our world governments, political leaders and big business. It has showed us what structures are not working from a “top-down” perspective, supporting the Elite and denying the common. On a personal level, Pluto has come in over the last 15 years to do an major overhaul in the Capricorn area of your birth chart -showing you where you are ready to take your power back and re-emerge moving into the next 20 years from a more authentic, empowered and CHANGED state. This was most prominent for the Cardinal signs (Capricorn, Cancer, Libra and Aries) as Pluto came in and burned down areas of their lives including their personal identity, careers, relationships and home-life, but EVERYONE got a taste of re-birth somewhere in their chart where Capricorn resides.
On January 20th, 2024 we have an extremely rare, once in lifetime/ EVER transit where the Sun (our consciousness, identity and Ego) meets up and merges with the planet of deep transformation not once, but TWICE in two separate zodiac signs, Capricorn and Aquarius. The Sun and Pluto alignment typically happens once a year and is considered a highly-charged and deeply intense day of the year in general. But this time it’s different, it does NOT happen where Pluto and the Sun meet up (in what’s called a Cazimi where a planet sits in the “heart” of the sun amplifying the energy) at the same time a powerful planet like Pluto transitions zodiac signs. This is because Pluto’s orbit is so long that it only changes signs once every 20 years or so.
So let’s break down how this energy is going to unfold: On January 19th and 20th the Sun and Pluto will meet up at the final degrees and minutes of Capricorn 29 degrees 59 minutes. This is epic in itself in that there are only 30 degrees in each zodiac sign. So for such powerful planetary bodies to meet up at the very very last threads of a zodiac sign is extremely telling. This energy brings final closure, truth, and revealing to what we have experienced on the world stage collectively but also personally. This is a TRUE letting go of the past, honoring what has been revealed and shown to us so we can decide to re-start a new way of being and doing. On a collective level Capricorn represents our governments, our world leaders, traditional structures in place as well and big business and corporations. On a personal level, Capricorn represents a certain area of your birth chart depending on where your Sun and Rising sign are located.
No sooner does this powerful conjunction occur in Capricorn but the Sun marches on and quickly enters the sign of Aquarius. Not 11 hours later does Pluto blast through the borders into Aquarius and conjunct with the Sun again at 0 degrees of Aquarius! The 29th degree and 0 degree of any sign is called a fated, anorectic degree. At 29 degrees we get endings, completions, tests and mastery. At 0 degrees we get unevolved, new and fresh energy. Pluto dancing in the fires of these anaretic degrees is indeed monumental.
Pluto in Aquarius is sure to usher in new energy to the collective in every aspect associated with the sign including evolution and disclosure in technology, aviation, medicine and healing, AI, the internet, and “the people.” Yes, if Capricorn represents the Elite, Aquarius represents “the people.” However, the anaretic degrees are also considered “crisis” degrees so it will be interesting to see what occurs on the world stage over the next 2 months or so as we welcome in the new energy. You see, sometimes in order for us to be able to transform and evolve what isn’t working, we have to undergo a crisis to show us the holes. We can see evidence of this when Pluto walked into Capricorn back in 2008 and we experienced the economic crisis and recession.
On a personal level, Pluto sitting at the final degree of Capricorn in your own chart is allowing a release valve for the way your Capricorn area of life has transformed. It may have brought death, grief, loss and disorder. But Pluto asks you, Do you see what needed to be revealed? Do you see the truth as to what wasn’t working and how I needed to reform you and this area into something better? More powerful? Pluto is raw. Pluto doesn’t coat things in rainbows and unicorns. Pluto’s only job to expose, burn down and re-build again but for the BETTER! To make you more empowered and powerful in the area of life he visited for the past 15 years. This is a chance to take a hard look at how you have changed, what the lesson was and why you needed to move through it.
As Pluto enters Aquarius he will Conjunct the Sun again, with billowing flames and power asking you “what are you ready to let go of or re-commit to” depending on what house Aquarius rules in your chart? This will be most predominant for the Fixed signs: Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio.
It may enter into Aquarius with a crisis moment, showing you the themes of what he is ready to evolve in your life for the next 20 years. If so, honor that moment. It will be very telling. But know, Pluto always works for our highest good - even if we go kicking and screaming.
Pluto will stay in Aquarius for the next 9 months giving us a solid taste of which themes are coming up for an overhaul both collectively and personally and then will BRIEFLY retrograde back to final degree in Capricorn in September of 2024 for two months. Putting the nail in the coffin, Pluto will finally move out of Capricorn and into Aquarius, never for us to experience a Pluto in Capricorn transit again for the rest of our lives, in November 2024 until 2044.
